Peter van Hugten (1949–2023) was a prominent Dutch illustrator, draftsman and painter. He became known for his characteristic illustrations in NRC Handelsblad and de Volkskrant , among others, to which he contributed for decades. His style was recognizable: refined, humorous and often with a subtle, human undertone.

Van Hugten illustrated more than 300 books and collaborated with well-known Dutch authors. His work is considered cultural heritage , because it not only defined the image of the Dutch press and literature, but also made an important contribution to the visual culture of the Netherlands. His oeuvre lives on as a lasting reflection of Dutch creativity and expression.
