Rudolphus Lauwerier (1797–1883) was a Dutch house painter, artist and watercolourist, mainly active in Nijmegen. He started his career as a house painter and ran his own painting business from 1825. His artistic work mainly consisted of watercolours and drawings, often depicting cityscapes of Nijmegen and the demolition of the city walls and gates. These works provide a valuable historical perspective on the changes in Nijmegen during the 19th century.

Lauwerier's paintings, such as those of the Nijmegen fortifications and surrounding landscapes, are praised for their atmosphere, although he sometimes took artistic liberties with reality. Many of his works have been preserved and are exhibited, including in the Valkhof Museum in Nijmegen. In his later years, despite his advanced age, he remained productive and, with his art, he gave a picture of a changing Nijmegen
