Regine Schumann is a minimalist artist who works with light art, initially inspired by Color Field Painting and artists such as Mark Rothko, Donald Judd and Dan Flavin.

Schumann’s boxes and installations are made from acrylic paint plates specially produced for her. Her work is more than just Concrete Art. Schumann’s color-filled light chambers are conceptualized as emotional spaces, evoking intense feelings of something otherworldly. Her minimalist approach influences everything from her choice of materials to the way she plays with form and color. Her exhibitions make the visitor part of the installation itself; another encourages dialogue between art forms. She applies the creative principles that characterize abstract European Concrete Art and American Minimalism. Also evident in her work are the concrete pictorial idea, the striving for objectivity, the reduction to simple geometry
