Description

Jan van Strien is a self-taught visual artist from Raamsdonk (North Brabant), born in 1963. Originally trained as a landscape architect, he developed into a painter and sculptor. His work is strongly inspired by nature, with a focus on color, line and material.

He paints with paint, brush and palette knife, and creates sculptures in stone and bronze, with each bronze sculpture being unique (lost-wax casting method). His style moves between abstraction and figuration. Van Strien exhibits both nationally and internationally and works from his studio and gallery in Kaatsheuvel. Recently, he has also been involved in photographic still lifes of flowers.
