Rik van Iersel (born in 1961 in Maastricht) is a versatile Dutch artist who is active as a painter, graphic artist, illustrator, cartoonist, designer and musician. As an autodidact he developed an expressive style with colorful, raw and energetic works, often with collage elements and text fragments. His work is characterized by spontaneity and a direct approach to materials and themes.

At a young age, Van Iersel designed posters for pop concerts at the Effenaar in Eindhoven, which marked the beginning of his career in the art world. He was also active as a drummer in the band Der Junge Hund and later founded the Beukorkest, an experimental music collective that combines different styles. His work has been exhibited in cities such as Amsterdam, Berlin, Hamburg, New York and San Francisco
