Description

Luis Filcer (Zhytomyr, Ukraine, 1927 – 2018, San Miguel de Allende, Mexico) was a Mexican expressionist visual artist. Filcer began his career as an artist in Mexico, where he had fled with his family in 1928, when he was only six months old, due to the persecution of the Jewish population after the Russian Revolution. At the age of sixteen, he began studying at the Academia de San Carlos in Mexico City. He attended classes in the morning and worked on his paintings and drawings in the afternoon.

Filcer lived and worked in the Netherlands for over twenty years, a large part of which was in De Rijp (North Holland). His work has been exhibited more than 340 times in leading museums and galleries around the world.

The work comes from the artist's estate.
